No matter where you are in Canada or America, let the Great Canadian Shop Hop be your designated driver.
Based on the Shop Hop concept, the Great Canadian Shop Hop gives you all the fun and excitement being there without the hassle of getting there. GCSH takes you to cities all across Canada. During each episode, we will visit a Canadian Quilt Shop. We’ll meet the owners, tour the shop and give away door prizes. Not only that, but we will take you on a tour of the town.
Perfect for people planning a trip to Canada, or Canadians thinking about holidaying in a different city or province. Watching the show will help viewers to pinpoint each individual store for the traveler’s “must see” list. Now you can plan your trip knowing exactly where you want to go ahead of time.

The Idea Behind The Show
The concept for the show originated during a trip to Los Angeles. With only 3 hours of free time and a full list of quilt shops to see, GCSH producer/host Tricia Sherman was frustrated trying to decide which stores to visit.
Published store guides give addresses, but do not give you a “feel” for each shop. Much of the time ordinarily spent enjoying what stores have to offer is consumed with the hassle of lining up the best stores in the vicinity. As much as we all want to visit each and every quilt shop, sometimes that just isn’t possible.
When QNN hit the internet it provided a perfect forum for a quilting travel show. Now viewers will be able to get a close up look at Canadian Quilt Shops and decided for themselves which shop has just what they are looking for. Whether you are packing the car, booking airline tickets or just sitting back in your favourite armchair, GCSH will bring the Canadian Quilting Scene to your home.

During “real” shop hops, Quilters pile into cars and buses to follow a route map containing many participating shops. A passport is handed out at the first shop and turned in at the last shop visited. Draw prizes are awarded throughout the day and patterns or kits are purchased at each store.
To try and recreate this feeling, GCSH will be starting up in two phases:
Phase 1 will begin with visits to local Quilt Shops. The program will display the door prize for each featured shop. Viewers will then be advised to go to the show’s website (currently under construction) to enter the draw for the prize. The winner will be announced the following week on the website only.
Phase 2 will see full use of the webpage. Winners of the door prizes will have their names announced on the website and on the show. A downloadable pattern supplied by each Quilt Shop will be available. Quilters who visit the site after each show will receive a completed passport and be eligible for a grand prize at the end of the year.
The webpage will also be used to showcase our sponsors. The webpage will be updated weekly with information regarding the area and Quilt Store visited. Links will be available for the sponsors and stores.
We are looking forward to taking you on an exploration of this great country with plenty of quilt shop stops along the way.
See you en route.
